The MM.JR.EQ. Riding Program
Please note: There is a waiting list for this program!

The Misty Meadows Junior Equestrian Program has evolved over the last few years to what it is today – small group, English-style riding and horsemanship lessons with an emphasis on a balanced seat and comprehensive care of the horse. The riders in the MM.JR.EQ. Program will benefit in the 2011-2012 season from an enhanced curriculum based on the standards of the U.S. Pony Club. Lessons are ninety-minute sessions and include both mounted and unmounted instruction. Riders will experience everything from showmanship patterns to bareback, jumping to trail riding, and much more. Lessons run on Monday and Tuesday afternoons from September through May. The MM.JR.EQ. program requires specific gear to participate - to learn more, click here.

Private Lessons
$50/lesson
If you wish for your rider to have private lessons, or to add on additional lessons to their monthly ride times, please [contact Erica] to make arrangements. Private lessons are a great way to help riders move to the next level, work on a specific skill, or gain more confidence with one-on-one attention. Lessons are scheduled on an individual basis, year round. Please note: the availability for private lessons is very limited, and only for current riders!

Horse Show Experience Package
As riders progress in their skill and interest on and around horses, it is a natural desire to attend horse shows. The Annual Horse Show at Misty Meadows is a great first step to introducing riders to the platform and work involved when attending and competing in horse shows. At Misty Meadows Farm, we have several horses and ponies who are experienced “horse show veterans” and are great teachers for a rider’s first horse show “away from home.” However, a show that is away from the farm, requires much more work and investment than one in our own backyard. Contact Erica to learn more about the Horse Show Experience Package which will give riders the opportunity to get ready for and participate in their first “real” show at another location.

Personal Shopper
If your rider is ready for his or her first horse, please always consider taking a trainer with you. Horse shopping is much like car shopping – you may not always get the true history of the animal. Safety is important, as is recognizing the riders goals for the future - not just buying based on looks. Erica is available as a "personal shopper" for your riders first (or next) equine partner. Please [contact Erica] for more information.
